What to expect from treatment
An acupuncturist will use many diagnostic methods to put together an individual treatment plan that takes into account you current health and lifestyle. They will take a complete medical history, read your pulses, examineyour tongue and may examine the site of your symptoms.
Fine acupuncture needles are inserted at points selected to affect your whole body as well as your symptoms. You will often be left to rest for a while before the needles are removed. The needles are single-use sterile needles and will be disposed of after each treatment.
Acupuncture needles are so fine that most people don’t feel them being inserted. It is normal to feel a dull ache or a tingle as the needles are adjusted. Many people feel deeply relaxed during treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS?
This is something that I will discuss with you at the first consultation.
It is normal to have weekly treatments initially that reduce in frequency as your body responds to treatment. Acupuncture often has an accumulative effect with people noticing differences with five or six treatments. Occasionally just one or two treatments are sufficient. Some chronic conditions respond well to a course of treatment with additional top ups.
